The Outlawz POM Ribbons or Lace challenge

Good morning!

It's Thursday and that means I get to share a card for this weeks The Outlawz POM Challenge. POM is short for Primsa's and Other Mediums. You can to use anything in your crafting arsenal except for Alcohol ink markers. And Prisma's can be ANY colored pencil, it doesn't have to be the Prismacolor brand. You do not even to color an image if you don't want to!

This week we are challenging you to use ribbon or lace on your cards or projects. Here is my sample for the challenge.

I chose to use ribbon on my card instead of lace. Both the flower and leaves are made out of ribbon. To make the flower I took piece of ribbon and stitched along side one edge then pulled a thread from one end to gather up the ribbon. Next I rolled the gathered ribbon similiar to how you would make a rolled rose. I had a bit of fraying going on in the center of the flower so I covered it up with a pearl.

To make the leaves, I just folded a piece of ribbon and tucked it under the ribbon flower.

These gorgeous flowers/pots images are from Penny Blacks In the Garden stamp set. I colored them with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS.
The pattern paper is Basic Grey's Hello Luscious. I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil calld Mini Floral Vines on the green to add a bit more pattern to it.

Easter Basket

Hi there friends!!!

Nothing new in my life...still very busy and very stressful! At least it's consistent? lol!
I got a start on my Easter cards this week...1 down...many to go!
All the images are from Gina K's Spring Basket and Basket Blessings stamp sets. The flower, chicks and eggs are colored with Koh-i-Noor pencils and OMS. I added sparkle to the eggs and flowers using my Spica pens and clear glitter pen. The basket was stamped on a scrap piece of pattern paper and was cut out. The basket is actually a bit taller but I wanted a shorter basket for my chick to sit in among the eggs so I cut the basket down a bit. I also cut the top strip of the basket off and re-attached it cover up the rough edge after cutting down the basket.
The pattern papers are scraps of October Afternoon and the cardstock is Gina K's Black Onyx, Wild Dandelion and Red Hot.

Tonight we created a project based on a sketch that our very own Melissa Cash designed for us.

This is the sketch...
And here is my take on the sketch. I added a bit more to the sketch, as I usually do, but you can still see the basic sketch in my card. I know I am a rebel!! lol!

I used 3 different Gina K stamps sets on my card. The sentiment is from the stamp set Picture it and is stamped inside a label from the Lovely Labels 2 set. The butterfly is from the Hope is Faith set.

The butterfly is colored with Koh-i-Noor pencils and OMS. I added a bit of sparkle to the wings using my glitter pen and a waterbrush.

The pattern paper is Webster's Page - Hollywood Vogue & Waterfall pack. The cs is Gina K's Ivory and Chocolate Brown pure luxury papers.

The next stop on the hop is to the uber talented Tera Fujan.

Winter Friends - Skating Penguins

Hi!

When I saw the little penguin image in Rupa's Winter Friends stamp set, I knew I wanted to create a scene card with him. Now when I went ice skating as a kid, I never went alone. I always had a friend to go with me...so I had to make this little penguin a friend to skate with...right?

I stamped the penguins on White pl with Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics and Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. I added shimmer to the hats and skates with my Sakure Glitter pen. To get the second penguin looking at the other, I used my reverse image stamp.

The water of the pond was brayered on using Bashful Blue, Bordering Blue and Blue Bayou. Before brayering, I used a post-it note to cover the sky and brayered on each side instead of the bottom of the cs. To create the ice look on the pond, I used my versamark ink pad and pressed it directly on the paper covering the entire pond. Then I sprinkled clear embossing powder over that and heated it with my heat tool.

I also brayered the sky using Going Grey, Summer Sky and Pacific Point.

The mountains of snow are a combination of snow glitter and liquid applique. I dabbed the liquid applique all over, heated it with my heat tool to make it puffy then added the snow glitter to fill in the gaps.

The houses were stamped on white pl paper and colored with copic. I cut them out and set them on the glitter before it dried. I tabbed more liquid applique around the house, on the roofs and the trees and sprinkled it with glitter before heating it. This time the liquid applique really puffed up, which is not what I wanted but you have to go with the flow right?

I matted the scene on Black Onyx, Rocket Red and Blue Bayou cs. I finished off the card by adding buttons from Gina's Holiday Assortment and branches punch out with silver cs.

I think the all the images in the Winter Friends stamp set would make beautiful scene cards and I have plans to make a few more myself.

Guiding Seagull

Hi!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Yesterday I mentioned that I spent the morning stamping with my friend Kay. She went through the my card basket and pulled out a few cards that she wanted to copy. One that she wanted to copy used Gina K's Guiding Light stamp set. I had not played with this set for quite a while so I make a card with it also.

I colored the image with prisma and Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS and used the oval nestibilities to cut it out and for the matting. The fibers are from previous Stamp TV kits.
The sentiment is from Happy Camper and the crackled background stamp is from Bold Flowers.
The anchor is also colored with pencils and OMS. I tied it to the fiber netting with hemp twine.

Teachers Rule

Did everyone have a nice Friday? I for one am glad the work week is over and the weekend is here. My daughters school is having an open house tomorrow to celebrate 30 years and also for moving into a new facility.
The card I am sharing today is one I made for Abbi to give to her teacher tomorrow.
The images and sentiment are from Gina K's Back to School. The are stamped with memento's tuxedo black ink and colored with koh-i-noor pencils and oms and cut out with deckled rectangle nestibilities.

Good evening!

Can you believe it's the first day of autumn? The weather sure is not fall like. It was nice temperature wise but rained most of the day. Not fun when you are walking outside to a different building for a meeting. I got caught in a not so nice down pour and even though I had an umbrella, I was drenched by the time I got back to my desk. Sitting in wet clothes made for a long uncomfortable afternoon!
My card today has a summer feel to it...I am not ready to let go of summer yet, are you?
The stamp is from Gina K's Eclectic Summer and is colored with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. Before I sponged the So Saffron, More Mustard and Mauve Mist ink around the flower, I recolored the flower with a versamarker and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The papers are Chocolate Kiss, More Mustard and the pink and dp is from my scraps.
I finished off the card with a couple different borders and prima flowers.

Baseball accessories

Happy Wednesday!
Today I am sharing a card I made for my nephew's birthday. He is just crazy nuts for baseball and talks, breaths and sleeps baseball so I new Melanie's Sporty Accessories stamp set was just perfect to use to make his card.

I used Gina's soft sand cs to do the wood grain technique on then stamped the locker on the cs when it was dried. I decided to make the locker pop up, which you can see in the first picture, by using my score pal and scoring the stamped lines around the locker then scoring a 1/4 inch past the first scored lines and folded the sides under...clear as mud huh?

The bat, mitt and baseball were stamped on the soft sand and colored with Koh-i-noor Pencils and OMS. The tennis shoes are also stamped on the soft sand but my hubby was pestering me to get going, (yes I waited for the last minute to make this care) so I did not color them in - don't they look naked compared to the bat, mitt and ball?

The dp is Basic Grey's Archiac. The banner is stamped on a piece of Archaic paper. I finished off the card with copper nail head embellies, stuffed it in an envelop and headed out the door. I sure hope I remembered to sign the card! lol!

To go with my nephews obsession with baseball, I got him a batters helmet, batting gloves and a T-ball. My sister seems to think he will wear the helmet and gloves to bed for the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking after the first night he may change his mind. That helmet does not look comfy!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a good weekend and a great Mother's Day! How did you spend your Mother's day?

I spent Saturday at my Mom's. Every year all of us kids get together the Saturday before Mom's day and work around her yard. We raked up the leftover leaves, trim trees, bushes, clean out the hedges and gutters. It's also this day that we decide what big house project we are going to do for her. Last year we remodeled the bathroom and upgraded the bathroom for her.

Yesterday I spent the day with my husband and daughters and also nursing a cold. My youngest daughter decided to share her cold with me.

Today I wanted to share a card I made using Guiding Light, illustrated by Rupa Shevde for Gina K.

The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Koh-i-noor and Prisma pencils. I used the oval nestibilities to cut it out and to mat the image. The dp is Basic Grey's Wisteria.
I tied some hemp around Nautical Netting and threaded it through the anchor. The anchor is also from the Guiding Light stamp set and was colored with the Koh-i-noor and prisma pencils.

To finish the card, I added brads and paper pierced the corners.

A day at the beach

Here we are at the beginning of another week! Can you believe April is only a couple of days a way? I thought it would never get here!
I had a very busy weekend with Birthday parties, Anniversary party, parties all weekend! I hope your weekend was good!

Today's card I would like to share was made for the Thursday Sketch challenge over at Stamp TV hosted by Jessica.

I picked up Kindred Spirit stamps awhile ago and had not inked them up yet, how sad is that! When I was thinking about I wanted to do for this challenge I remembered one of the Kindred Spirits stamps I had and thought it would be perfect for what I was going to do. I found a border punch, Boundary Waters, that looked like waves and wanted to use that for the challenge. How perfect does At the Beach work with this punch?
The sentiment is also Kindred Spirits, Kindred Greetings for Kids. I tried to get the ribbon to not cover the tag. After many tries at tying it, I gave up because it had a mind of it's own. lol...
The sentiment says "I'm so lucky you're mine!". Even though this is in the greetings for kids, I think it could be used for any member of your family or maybe even some of your friends.

Over the next few days I want to share a few more cards that I made for the Gina K release party.
Don't you love Asela's new set Zoo Animals? These little guys are so cute! When I saw the giraffe is this set with the sentiment "You're always reaching for the top", I wanted to surround him in clouds.
I started out with a piece of white cs cut using SU's top note. I stamped the giraffe with memento's tuxedo black ink, colored him in with my Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS, colored over him again with a versamarker and heat embossed using clear embossing powder. The grass is sponged with Wasabi and Artichoke with a bit of Chocolate sponges near the horizon and around the edges. The clouds in the sky were sponged with Bashful Blue.
The paper is Basic Grey' Mellow and Gina's pure luxury brown from the Floral Frenzy kit.
The sentiment was punched with SU's Curly Label punch as is it's matting.

Sketch Challenge

Hi!

I'm a bit late posting today so I will try to keep it short.
The card for today I made for this weeks CSP sketch. The sketch can be found here.

The card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/4. The cs is Bashful Blue, Certain Celery and Pure Luxury. The dp is Basic Grey's LilyKate. The stamp is from a Autumn Leaves set called Mindy's Zoo. I used Koh-I-Noor pencils and oms. Both the image and the mat is cut with the oval nesties. The mat was embossed with the swiss dots embossing folder as was the strip of yellow dp. Small pieces of celery grosgrain ribbon were folded in half and attached to the sides of the oval for an accent.

The celery cs was embossed with the distressed striped. the bashful border was punched with the Martha Stewarts embossed zigzag punch. I accented the rest of the card with blue half backed pearls and more celery ribbons.

Hedgehog Hugs

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

My morning started out nice and cold. The blower on our out door wood burning furnace went out last night and my husband could not get the 'real' furnace to fully kick in to we had limited heat through the night! Since the outdoor furnace also heats our water for the house and the the 'real' water heater is on the same propane line as the 'real' furnace we had cool water for showers this morning, Brrrrr! Nothing like a cool shower for a quick wake-up call!

A friend told me about a very reasonable on-line store that has quite the variety of stamping and crafting supplies. It is called 7kidscollegefun.com. I was impressed with the prices and ended up ordering several things from them.
One of my purchases was a new Penny Black clear stamp set called Hugs. I love the images in this set and had to ink one of my favorites up right away.

Aren't those hedgehogs adorable? I stamped them with mementos tuxedo black ink on 80 lb pure luxury cs and colored them with the Koh-I-Noor pencils and OMS. I used DCWV textured cs and dp from one of their mat pads. The card size is about 5x6.
The sentiment is from Gina's Down on the Farm and is stamp in black versafine ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. It is cut out using the double ended labels spellbinder die cuts.
I used the Martha Stewart Floral lace Border punch on the bottom of the yellowish colored dp them used an embossing border folder for the burgundy colored strip and layered over the yellowish strip. I embellished the primas, doubled ended label and the corners of the scalloped rectangle with Kaisers brown half pearls.
The corners of the cs were punched with the Tonic duo corner punch - tag ticket.

Seeing Double

Good evening!

I am a late poster today. I took my daughter to see a movie this afternoon, Marley and Me. It was a very good movie but quite sad at the end. I had not heard a lot about the movie but was definitely not expecting to cry during it. Abbi also was very sad and crying which made me feel worse because it was suppose to be a fun time with Mom.
After the movie we stopped in at Gina's store pick up a couple of things, at least that was my intention before getting into the store, but as always, it's never just a couple of things when I walk out of the store...hehehe!
Anyway while we were there talking to Jessica, we were able set up a sleepover for our girls at my house tonight. While the girls were playing, I got to play and work on a few of the challenges that Gina has going on this week. You can find out all about them here on her blog.
Jessica also has a blog candy challenge going on. Check it out here. I am still thinking about how I want to do her challenge.

This is what I came up with for her first challenge which was to double mat your focal image.

The cs is wasabi, blue bayou, and the brown is DCWV textured cs. The dp is from the Roam mat pad by K&Company.

I used Rupa's new stamp set Home Tweet Home for the card.
The bird house and branch are colored with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. I added Doodlebug brown glitter to the bird house and eucalyptus sticklers to the very tiny leaves on the branch. I used my circle nesties to cut out the image and sponged blue bayou and baja breeze over the circle. The image is double matted it using the oval nesties. I added a tiny eyelet to the top of the matted image and threaded hemp twine through it.

The butterflies are from SU's Butterfly of happiness. I stamped the two butterflies with versamark on acetate and used the heat tool to emboss them with Antiquities ocher embossing powder. I wanted to add a bit of sparkle or shimmer to them so I colored in the non-embossed spot with a sakura glitter pen. I let the glitter pen dry a bit before I cut them out because I did not want it to rub off of the acetate. They are attached to the card with a glue dot and I folded in the wings a bit so it looked like they were hovering.
The picket fence is a Martha Stewart border punch I just picked up. I tried to add grass along the bottom of the fence but did not like how it turned out so I covered it with a piece of wasabi stitched ribbon.

Sending snail mail

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope Santa was very good to you all!
I love Christmas and not just because of receiving presents. I love to give the presents and usually go way overboard on my family. Yup, I am the spender in the family and my husband it the one that you have to use a crowbar to pry the wallet open. LOL! Yup, he's a saver. It's probably a good thing I have not given rubbed off my spending habits on him...hehehe!

Today's card is the snail from Framed Friends.

The cs is wasabi and carmel. Dp is K & Co's Margo mat pack. The border punch, zigzag is another one of Martha Stewart's. I added rhinestones to the border, at the ends of the ribbon and on the oval behind the sentiment which by the way is from SU Like it a latte set and punched out using the curly label punch. The flowers were stamped in garden green on the wasabi cs and I used my copics to add a bit of color to them.

The Swiss dots ef was used on the bottom of the dp matted to the card base and the wasabi the snail is matted on.
The snail is colored with Koh-i-noor pencils and oms. I paper pieced the snails shell with dp and added yellow glitter around the stamp. I covered the body of the snail and the glitter with crystal lacquer.

Between this post and my last two, I think I like this card using the framed friends the best. Which one do you like best?

Ladybug love

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Today's post will be short. I have a lot of stuff to do today as I am sure everyone else does.
It does not seem like it should be Christmas yet, does it?

This is another card where I used Framed Friends, this time with the ladybug. Isn't she cute? I love the flower shaped sun up in the corner.
The card base is rose red and embossed with the With Gratitude folder. I used a versamarker and colored the petal and center of the embossed flowers. This made them stand out which is hard to see in the picture. Irl it's really noticeable.
The dp is from DCWV Nana's Nursery and it matted on their textured cs. The bottom was punched with Martha Stewart's floral lace border punch. I added the ribbon knot and rhinestones for embellies.
The sentiment is from Gina K's punchy stamp set punch out using a 1 1/4 circle punch. This is matted on a 1 1/2 circle punched from the DCWV textured paper. The sentiment is popped up using pop dots.
The ladybug was colored using kor-i-noor pencils and oms. I paper pieced the flower/sun using the same dp. I used doodlebug glitter on her legs, spots, antennas and the heart she is holding then covered the glitter with crystal lacquer. I also add the glitter to the dots in the center of the flower. I matted her on the textured paper cut from a rectangle nestibility die. I also popped her up on the card using pop dots.

Framed owl

Good Morning!

We are on a warming trend. I woke up to a balmy 10 degree and a wind chill of only -3. We did get about 3 inches of snow overnight, but not as much as what was predicted.

Today's card is made using the Framed Friends that was released by Gina K this month.
The paper is choc chip cs, DCWV textured cs(this is the orange) and the dp is K & Co Ab Lotus mat pad.
I used the Owl stamp for this card. I stamped him, yup he's a boy today, on the pure luxury 80 lb cs with versamark and heat embossed using fine detail black ep. I stamped him a second time on the K & Co dp.
I colored his face and the frame with koh-i-noor pencils and oms. I used doodlebug glitter for wing (orange), beak (orange) and the branch (brown). I paper pieced his eyelids, body and feet, and used crystal lacquer on the eyes, nose and wings. The sky behind the owl is water coloring with the sakura glitter pen.
The owl is matted on what is my attempt at making a medallion using Martha Steward's checkerboard border punch.
The sentiment is from Gina's Punchy Word stamp set which I punch with the SU label punch. I love how the sayings from this set fit in that punch and how well the punched label fits in the smallest spellbinder's double ended tag.

The card background is the K & Co dp and the distress stripes embossing folder.
I used Choc twill pieces looped through the medallion and attached to the choc twill strip down the side with brads. Kind of looks like a flag...maybe a little?

Snow Swirls

Hello!


OMG! Is it cold here in Wisconsin tonight! I think it is a good night to snuggle up with a blanket, my daughter and our furry babies. I have to share a picture of my furry babies, Chuckie and Caitlyn. It is not often I can get a picture of them both sitting still...lol! Do you think I need to trim Caitlyn's face so you can see her eyes or better yet so she can see...hehehe!

Okay on to the card.
This is another card using the Penny Black stamp, Warm and Cold. I just love this snowman.

All the cs and dp is SU's. I stamped the snowman with Mementos Tuxedo Black ink, colored him with with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS and used crystal lacquer on his nose, eyes, mouth, arms, and the ends of his scarf. Blue rhinestones are his buttons.

I made the snow swirls by embossing a piece of whisper white cs with the divine swirls embossing folder, cut diagonally along the swirls then used my quickie glue pen to add the baby blue glitter to the swirls. I added the swirls over the snowman as an after thought - and it actually turned out to be one of those good afterthoughts...hehehe!
I punched the snowflakes from fuzzy white paper and added a blue rhinestone to the center of each one.
The let it snow sentiment is from SU's Cold Play stamp set.

Penny Black snowman

Oh my goodness, how time flies!


I have not been a very good blogger this past week. It was crazy!! I had two birthdays in my family on top of the Thanksgiving holiday which left me with no spare time.
Can you believe Christmas is in just a 3 weeks? Anybody else behind on their Christmas cards, gifts they want to make and shopping?

The card I am sharing today is made with a Penny Black stamp I picked up at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and a Basic Grey paper pack, Two Scoops which I picked up at Gina's brick and mortar store. The colors in the BG pack matched perfectly with Wasabi and Baja Breeze.


I colored the snowman with Koh-i-Noor pencils and OMS. I put crystal lacquer on his nose and arms. Blue rhinestones were used for buttons and the snow is white liquid applique, glitter sprinkled on top, then heated to make it puffy.
I also found a couple of the new nestibilities, large labels, small labels and labels two. I really like how they look layered. I am still searching for the labels one. Every store I have been to is out of them. I think I need to buy them on-line, which I didn't want to because I always end up spending more than I wanted to...hehehe!
I used the fancy photo corner punch and layered them with the dp on the bottom and baja on the top.
Fuzzy white paper was used for the snowflakes with a blue rhinestone in the center.

Frosted Flakes

Good morning!

I am back to using up my scrap papers. Isn't it amazing how quickly they can pile up?
The Santa is from SU's Jolliest Time of the Year. I colored him with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. His fur trim on the suit is covered with sticklers frosted lace and the belt buckle is gold sticklers.
For the snow, I used white liquid applique and dazzling diamonds which I heated to get the puffy look.
The background is the snow flakes embossing folder. To make the snow flakes white, I opened the folder and brayered versamark over the card then used Judi Kins white diamond embossing powder. I like this ep because the snow flakes are white but also has sparkle to them.
If I had removed the paper from the ef then brayered, the versamark would be all over the paper and not just on the snow flakes.
The colored paper snow flakes are punched from the Western Sky dp and I layered one snow flake on top of the other.

I would love to see any cards you make using the embossing folder/brayer technique.
