Father's Day with a twist!

Hi!

I hope you had a chance to check out The Outlawz Summer Party this past week! We saw a lot of awesome entries in the challenges and I for one can not wait to see who wins all of those fabulous prizes!
This week The Outlawz POM challenge is adding a twist to the challenge. With Father's Day right around the corner we would like you to create a Father's Day project...and the twist is...to include a handmade embellishment on your project.
Here is my sample...

My hand made embellishment is the little flag. I use a toothpick for the flag pole and added faux stitching around the flag itself. I also added stitching to the twill tape. I am not sure if that actually counts but I gonna say it does! ;o)
The sailboat is from Gina K Designs Enjoy the Sunshine and the sentiment is from her Tech Talk stamp set.
The papers are SU and Bazzill. The pattern paper is from Basic Grey's Archaic collection.

I hope you will play along with us this week. I can not wait to see what everyone makes for their handmade embellishment!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Stamping SisterHood of Crafters - Celebrating Dad, Creative Card Crew - Ribbons and Brads, Part Time Tuesday's - Father's Day and Simon Says Stamps - Distressed/Torn edges.

Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate each and every visit from you, my friends!

Sharri

Hidden Treasures

Hi!
I was going through my crafting area rearranging a few things and came across my forgotten collection of wood mounted sentiment stamps. It was like finding a hidden treasure so of course I had to pull the drawers out, sit on the floor and look through them all...yes, just like a little kid ;o)
As I went through them I set aside the ones I knew I probably wouldn't use again and pulled out a few to use right away.
I forgot how much I loved some of these sentiments. This is one I picked up at a LSS when I got into making mini books and calendar pages. It's a Penny Black stamp called The Best.
I embossed the cardstock with Sizzix Regal Flourishes embossing folder. The bits of pattern paper are Bo Bunny's Gabrielle Collection and I cut out a couple of the butterflies from the pattern paper to adhere to the card.

I hope you have a wonderful day and maybe you will come across a hidden treasure too!

Outlawz POM Challenge

Happy Thursday my friends!

Today I have a card to entice you to pop over to The Outlawz POM Group and check out the challenge for this week.
Can you guess what it is? If you guessed embossing you are correct! The challenge is to use embossing folder(s) or embossing powder on your project. The rule we have for the POM challenges is that you can not use Alcohol ink markers on your project. Anything in your crafting arsenal of mediums is perfectly fine to use.

For my card I used both embossing folders and clear embossing powder. When I want to match my wet embossing to the colors of my project, I will first ink up my stamp with versamark and ink it again with the colored ink before stamping on the paper. Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the stamped image or sentiment and heat it as you normally would. Inking the stamp with versamark then with the colored ink will not harm your ink pad at all.

The sentiment is by Serendipity Stamps that I have had in my stash forever! The embossing folders are Cuttlebugs Swiss Dots and Sizziz Dots folders.

I hope you will visit us at The Outlawz and play along with this weeks POM Challenge!

Remember this month we have Digi Doodle Shop sponsoring us for the month with a $10 GC!!
Every submission will get you another chance at winning! Drawing will be June 2nd.

The Outlawz also has three sponsors site wide for the month of May!!
Rusty from Oozak.com is providing a $50.00 gift certificate.
Susana's Custom Art and Card Designs is offering a $25.00 gift certificate (store merchandise only).
Color Me Creative Classroom is giving one Copic class of your choice.

You can read all about these wonderful prizes right here on the main page along with all the information about our summer party and let me tell you, we have some awesome prized to give away at the summer party so be sure to check it out!

My last Blast from the Past Challenge :o(

Hi!

Tonight is a sad night for me...my 3 month term as a challenge hostess on Stamp TV has come to an end. This week will be my last Blast from the Past Challenge. I want to thank everyone for supporting me and playing along with my challenges. It has have been so much fun coming up with the challenges each week and I have been so inspired by all of your comments and projects these past 3 months! THANK YOU!!!

For my last challenge I wanted to do another technique that I really enjoy called Partial Cuttlebug Embossing. It also gave me the opportunity to play with my new Tim Holtz Embossing Folders *wink*. The folder I used is his Brick folder. I picked this up at a local craft store while shopping with some friends last weekend.
I used Basic Grey's Lemonade paper to emboss using the brick embossing folder and then sanded a bit of a distressed look. The other papers are Gina K's Cranberry Tart, White and the new Wild Dandelion Pure Luxury papers.

The flower image and sentiment are from a new Gina K stamp set that was just release tonight called Hope Grows. Theresa Momber is the illustrator and what an amazing set this is! I love all the images she packed into this set and have so many ideas floating around in my head that I can not wait to create!
I colored the flowers with copics, stamped the leaf branches then sponges Mementos Cantaloupe, Angel Pink and Wild Wasabi ink around them.
Here is how I finished the inside.

I would love it if you would play along with me for my last Blast from the Past Challenge.
If you do, please be sure to upload your project to the stamp TV Gallery using the tag STVBPSLS13 so you are entered in the drawing for a free stamp set of your choice and so I can see what you have created!

Thank you for stopping by! I really appreciate it!

Fishin with Dad

Hi!

I am getting a jump on my Father's Day cards and would like to share one with you today.
I used Gina K's new Gone Fishing stamp set. All images were colored with copics. I used my brayer to add the water and sky and then handy sponges to add some shading and shadows.
The sentiment is included in the stamp set. I love that it is a Happy Dad's Day instead of the usual Happy Father's Day.
Here is a picture of the inside. I did not add a sentiment because I wanted to handwrite a personal note instead.

Thank you for visiting me tonight!

Sewing for spring

Hi!
As I mentioned yesterday, here is another card from Sunday. This one was designed by Sue. Don't you love the quilt look? I sure do!

I hate to admit this, but I honestly do not remember the name of this stamp set or the company that makes it and I know the girls told me on Sunday. How sad is that?!! So please help me out by leaving me a comment if you recognize this set and let me know the name of it or the company that makes it.

Edited 2/25/10: Thank you Melissa for letting me know the name/company of the stamp set! It is Springtime Quilt from Whipper Snapper/Anna Wight

Thank you for visiting my blog and have a wonderful rest of your evening. I am off to check off a few more things on my long list of things to do before I leave for our family vacation next week.

hugs!

Flower Topiary

Hello,

This is another of my "lost posts". I made this card for my Mom's Birthday.

The Topiary was stamped on Gina's white pl paper with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink and colored with copics. The Happy Birthday stamped on the Sizzix Scalloped Envelope with Vintage Violet ink. I trimmed down the envelope before tucking it behind the image panel.
For the background, I stamped the Petals Background Stamp on Gina's Sweet Corn paper with More Mustard ink, flipped the paper over and spritzed water on it to soften it enough to crinkle it up. I did not want to spritz the water on the front of the paper where I had stamped the flower background because I did not want the ink to break down and smear the image, kwim?

The card base is Vintage Violet cs and I finished off the card with Prima's, Pearls, Ribbon and the border.

We had a fun evening last night. The Stoughton High School had their Italian Dinner and Pop's Concert. They have an amazing music director who used to play in The Lucas Cates Band and last night the members from The Lucas Cates Band played back-up for the kids. The band even performed a song for us...how cool is that? Abbi enjoyed it so much that she even talked Dad into buying both of the bands cd's!

Have a blessed rest of your day!

A card for Somer

Hello and Happy Monday!!!

I did not realized I have not shared this card with you yet. I made it for last weeks StampTV potluck challenge issued by Deb Felt, another of my fellow CSS DT. Deb asked that we make make a soft and feminine card in honor of the life of Somer Thompson, the little girl who's life was cut tragically short. Somer's family is from Jacksonville, Florida - the same community as Deb. Deb asked us to use Somer's favorite color purple on our cards and go one step further and actually mail the cards to her and she would forward them on to the family.
If you would like to send a card, the address is:

Silver Christmas Tree

Happy Saturday!

It has been a busy but fun weekend so far. Last night we spent some time with my Mother and Father in-law and this morning I spent some time with a good friend stamping, the afternoon with my dd, Abbi stamping and now we are getting ready to go to a play.

Before I head out the door, I wanted to share this card I made a couple of days ago.
I used the Christmas Tree image from A Very Merry Christmas. It was stamped on In the Navy cs with versamark and heat embossed with silver ep. Then I colored in the ornaments with Prisma pencils and re-colored with a clear glaze pen. I love navy and silver together for Christmas cards. The brad on the ribbon is one I have had lying around for quite sometime.

Have a wonderful rest of your evening. Tomorrow I will share one of the card I made with Kay today.
hugs,

Birthday blues

Hi!

Can you believe it's the last day of September? It seems like this month has flown just like the summer did for me. October can not fly by, I have to many things I need to get done before the really cold weather sets in.

Today I have a birthday card to share and even combined it with this weeks color challenge on Stamp TV. The colors were pink, blue and white or Ivory.
There is one thing that is bugging me with this card and that is the sentiment. I should have used a darker pink because you can not see it in this picture. The sentiment is from Gina K's Rectangle Greetings and says "May all your wishes come true". The flower is also Gina K and is from Friendship's Garden. I colored the leaves with SU Certain Celery and Old Olive markers and the rest of the flower with copics. To add the shimmer I water colored it with a sakura glitter pen and a niji water brush. The nestie ring and the embossed paper also shimmer. I was in the glitter water coloring mood I guess.
The embossing folder I used is a dots one from sizzix. All the papers and ribbons are SU. There are pink pearls around the nestie ring. I used navy ribbon behind the dp. I rather like that look...what do you think?

One birthday card done...two to go but these two need to be masculine cards. That will be a challenge for me. lol!

Have a wonderful rest of your evening!
hugs,

Mauve flowers

Good evening!

Can you believe it's the first day of autumn? The weather sure is not fall like. It was nice temperature wise but rained most of the day. Not fun when you are walking outside to a different building for a meeting. I got caught in a not so nice down pour and even though I had an umbrella, I was drenched by the time I got back to my desk. Sitting in wet clothes made for a long uncomfortable afternoon!
My card today has a summer feel to it...I am not ready to let go of summer yet, are you?
The stamp is from Gina K's Eclectic Summer and is colored with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. Before I sponged the So Saffron, More Mustard and Mauve Mist ink around the flower, I recolored the flower with a versamarker and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The papers are Chocolate Kiss, More Mustard and the pink and dp is from my scraps.
I finished off the card with a couple different borders and prima flowers.

Have a wonderful rest of your evening!
