Scalloped square card

Hi!

Have you ever been so busy you forgot something important? Well, that was me yesterday and this morning. Yesterday was my husbands birthday and I realized when I got up that morning I did not have a card for him! Oops! So after work I quickly got started on a card and this is what I came up with.

The card started out as a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square before I used the large scalloped square nestibility die cut.
All the paper is SU (River Rock, Ruby Red, and the dp is Western Sky - I think)
The horse stamp is one my daughter picked out at Micheal's - she loves anything to do with horses. I colored it with my Copics.
The Ruby Red cs matted behind the horse was run through the cuttlebug using the Distressed Stripes embossing folder.
This was a fairly easy card to make and thankfully it did not take me long at all!

Earlier this morning I received a phone call from my daughter's teacher. She reminded me today was picture day, oops again! I completely forgot about this too. I sure hope this will not be a pattern for me the rest of the week! LOL!

Thanks for visiting!
Have a great day!

I got a new book!

Good Morning and Happy Friday!
Today I wanted to share a card I made using an example from a new book I picked up at Micheal's. The book is all about card templates. Some are just pictures and other give the recipe for the card.
All the cs and dp is SU. I stamped the image, which is from Gina K's Happy Harvest, with VersaMark and embossed with black embossing powder. I colored the image with Twinkling H2O's.
The sentiment was cut using the Nestibilities label diecut. The flowers are brads with a flower punch from a little EK Success punch behind them.

This is what the inside of the card looks like. Don't look to close at the flowers. I put Crystal Lacquer on them and that was a mistake because it made the Twinkling H2O's bleed.

Thanks for stopping and have a great Friday!

Cammie's Heart to Heart blog candy

Good Morning!
This is the card I made for Cammie's Heart to Heart blog candy and mailed out this morning to the Artman Home.
I apologize for the photo. The actual card looks much better than the photo. I had a hard time getting a good picture that was not blurry and true to the colors.
The colors are SU's Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, and gray textured from DCWV. The DP and ribbons are also SU. All the edges of the paper were sponged with the corresponding ink color.

I colored the image from Cammie's Whimsical Autumn set with Twinkling H2O's. I used the Nestibilities rectangle sets to crop the image and scalloped mat. I love how you can cut the image with the die and then slide it over to cut them smaller. I will usually use a small piece of tape to hold the die in place. The sentiment is from SU's Absolutely Fabulous and cut from the smallest Nestibilities Label set. I used the same die to cut two more labels and used them to mat the sentiment. The border is friskars Dandy Doodle punch which not only punches be embosses. It is really hard to see the embossed part - I covered some of it up with the dp...Hehehe!
Did you notice that the D'Vine Swirl Cuttlebug embossing folder matches the border punch?
After embossing the grey DCWV cs I sanded it and then rubbed Metallic Rub-on over the entire piece of paper.

Good luck to everyone that takes part in the Heart to Heart blog candy!

Have a great day!

Wanted

Good afternoon!

Today I am sharing another masculine birthday card I made over the weekend. I also made this one with the scraps lying around.
I haven't used the SU Wanted set for quite awhile and this is definitely good for the males.

All the cs and DP is SU. The bottom half of the card was embossed with the Paisley cuttlebug folder. I stamped the horse and the edges of the paper in Close to Cocoa ink and the swirls in Creamy Carmel. I used the Scalloped Rectangle Nestibilities for the map behind the horse. The mat for the sentiment is actually one of the Nestibility Labels and the SU tag punch.
I used the Threading Water border punch for the edge and weaved hemp through the holes.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your day!

Birthday Owls

Good Morning!

I am trying to catch up on birthday cards for family members. I am usually very good at getting them their gifts on their birthday but this summer I have been really bad. Most of the cards need to be masculine which is not alway easy for me.

Here are two cards where I used Gina's Owl Always Love You set. Since I still have sooo much scrap paper left, I forced myself to use some of that to make these two.
The cards are not the standard 41/4 x 5 1/2. A while ago I had cut some paper for a 5x5 book and had left over so I used that for the card base.

I used the Scalloped Oval Nestibilities for the first card and the Paisley for the other card. The layout is pretty much the same for both cards.
The owls are colored with Copic markers. I used a few different punches on the cards, Friskar Threading Water and Diamond border punches, SU's scalloped circle and EK Success Flourish punch. The cs and the dp on the first card is SU's. I do not remember where I got the dp for the second card.
The corners are the SU Scalloped circle punch cut in half. I have been eyeing the new scalloped corner punch but have been trying to talk myself out of it because they can be made with punches. I am not so sure I will be able to do that for very long...

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Grateful Pumpkins

Hi!

This past week has been so busy for my family and I that I have not been able to post a project for a few days.
Today I have been playing around with Halloween/Thanksgiving cards.

I used the big nestibilities scalloped rectangle for the card base. I like the notches along the top. They were not done intentionally...Hehehe! Knowing me I will not be able to do that again. LOL!
The CS and DP are SU and the black CS is DCW, which I sanded to give it a distressed look. The pumpkins are from Gina's Happy Harvest. I wanted them to pop against the DP, so I stamped with Versamark and used black embossing powder to make them stand out.
The sentiment is from Rupa's So Grateful.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Owl card

Hi!

Can you believe September is half over? OMG! The summer flew by and now the fall...I am definitely not ready for winter so I hope we have a very long fall season! LOL!

Today I would like to share a care I made for my husband for our anniversary. I was rather happy with myself because I used paper from my scrap pile. Hehehe...
I finally had a chance to use Gina's Owl Always Love you set, well the images instead of the sentiments anyway. The window on the card was punched with a Marvy scallop rectangle punch and the scallop rectangle Nestibilities on the green. I embossed Leafy Branches and tried to sand them but I found out rather quickly that the paper did not have a white core so the leaves are just a little bit lighter.

I used the leaf border punch along the bottom. Don't laugh but this was quite challenging! Now you would think that lining the area up on the pattern provided would work perfectly - Not for me. I had to actually turn the punch upside down and line the paper up that way. I added the green paper behind the leaf border to cover up one sorry looking border! LOL!
I used Old Paper distressed inks around all the edges.

Here is the inside. I used my Copic markers for the coloring. What do you think of the stripes on the owls? After I added them, I wasn't sure if I like them or not.
The heart is from the set Just so Hippy.
Thanks for stopping by!

Puppy love...maybe...

Hi!

It is such a dreary day today. It is cloudy and rainy but a bit humid. Much better than down south. I am praying for everyone affected by Ike.

Today I wanted to share another card that I made with scrap paper. I can not believe how much I have of both dp and cs! I am really wondering if I will ever get it under control...LOL!
Anywho, The dp and cs is from SU. The image is also one of SU's, For Father. It is colored with Koh-i-noor pencils, OMS, and blending stump. I cut and embossed it with a rectangle nestibilities and mapped with the scallop rectangle.
The sentiment is from Gina's Owl Always Love You. I did change the first word from Owl to I'll since I did not use one of the owls as the image.
I recently go the new EK success corning punch and just love it! I used that for a couple of the corners. The brads are ones I have had forever and have no idea where they are from!

This morning I attended Jessica's Acrylic book class. We got to use the bind-it-all and of course now I want one! LOL! I also met two very nice, friendly ladies who made the class very enjoyable.
If you are able to I highly recommend taking this class.

Everyone have a nice weekend!

Criss Cross

Good Morning!

Today I am sharing a book I made for a Father's Day gift for my hubby. I found the pattern online, sorry I can not remember where. Like I usually do, I find a pattern I like and then tweek it to make it my own, which is what I did with this book.
I found a set of clear stamps that were all sentiments about girls and another about Dad's at Archiver's. I do not remember what brand they are and since I am being naughty and blogging at work I can not go look...Hehehe.
I also used a few other sentiments I have had for quite a while.

The cover was made with a piece of 6x6 chipboard covered with DCWV all Dressed Up paper. The word Dad is also chipboard that I covered with turquoise ink and glued dyed Micro bead on top. The arrows are punched with Stampin Up's arrow punch after I ran the paper through the Cuttlebug's dots embossing folder.
The book has four pages that when opened they criss cross.

Of course I had to put pockets somewhere in the book so I added one to the front and back covers and you can see I added one behind the half page on the upper right hand side of the book.
The images are from SU's Touch of Nature stamp set. I colored them with Koh-i-noor pencils, OMS and blending stump.
The tabs are punched with McGill and EK Success punches. SU cs was used to mat the pictures and images.

For embellishments I used assorted buttons and brads.

I have to share a dog story with you. The dog in the upper left side picture is little more than a year and a half. When we got him he was this little puff ball maybe weighing in at 2-3 pound. We were told he was a pure breed Pomeranian and would not get any bigger than 6 to 11 pounds. Doesn't he look he weighs 6-11 pound? LOL! He is a solid dog and weighs in at 33 pounds!
I hope everyone has a great day!

Sun Flowers

Good Morning,
I hope everyone survived their Monday. Here in Madison it rained most of the day and only got up into the upper 50's!

Today I would like to share a card that reminds me of Autumn.
The card base is SU's So Saffron. I used one of the Cuttlebugs border folder on the edge and added some color to it using the Metallic Rub-ons which I applied with a Q-tip to have more control over where I wanted the colors. I used another Cuttlebug folder on textured paper from a DCWV mat stack and used a sanding block over the flowers. Behind the textured paper is DP from SU. I also used the same dp to mat the sentiment and on the corner.
The sunflowers are from the SU Give Thanks set. They were colored with Prisma pencils, OMS, and a blender stump.
The sentiment is from GinaK's Happy Harvest.

Have a great Tuesday!

Jessica's waste not, want not release party challenge

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

I wanted to share the card I made for Jessica's release part Waste Not, Want Not Challenge.

The challenge wase to take a 6x6 piece of pattern paper and use the whole sheet on a card.
I used dp from DCWV - Nana's Nursery Baby Girl and mat stack, and SU cs.
The corner tabs are a new nestibilities I picked up on Friday. Don't you love it? I can't wait to try out the other tab designs. I sanded the mat stack paper and then rubbed Metallic Rub-on on the sanded parts.
The image is one of GinaK's, Happy Havest which I colored with Copic markers. I used a glitter pen in the center of the flowers and then put crystal lacquer over that.

I used a Friskar's border punch for the border on the bottom of the card.

This is the inside of the card. When it is closed the pick cs shows throught the border.

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope everyone has a great week!

Cammie's Release Party Sketch Challenge

Good Morning!

I made this card for Cammie's Release Party Sketch Challenge.

I guess I unconsiouly wanted to be a rebel because I completely forgot to round my two corners and put a tab on the top corner. LOL! Oh well it was still fun to do.
I used SU cs and Nana's Nursery Baby Girl dp from DCWV. I used my oval nestibilities and cut out two scalloped ovals. The top one, I paper pierced and then layered it over the green scalloped oval and put the image in the center.
I used GinaK's Happy Harvest set, colored with Prisma pencils, OMG and blender stump. I put crystal lacquer over the flowers and leaves to give them a little shine. I added rhinestones around the image and to a couple corners of the dp. The ribbon is just a tied bow and glued on with a glue dot.

Have a good rest of your weekend!

Just Because...

Happy Friday!
I am sooo glad it is Friday! It has been a busy week, both at work and home.

The card for today is using a stamp from SU's Natural beauty set. The image is stamped on SU's shimmery cs and colored with Prisma pencils, OMS and a blender stump. Over that I watercolored with a glitter pen to give it a bit of sparkle. One of EK Success border punches was used on the corners.
I did reverse embossing with the Cuttlebug and then covered the paper with Metallic Rub-on. I added the Prima flowers with a brad in the center. I wanted a smaller sentiment for this card so went with the SU tab punch and a sentiment from the SU Fancy Flexible Phrases set.
I wanted to add ribbon but did not want to cover anything up with it so I put a couple eyelets in the tab and fed the ribbon from the back then tied a knot on each side.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Flower Garden

Hi!
Today I wanted to show you a couple of cards I made with a SU retired set. Flower Garden is one of the sets that are fun to color. These images are a couple more from the pile I have been using up. The pile is almost gone which is good because I have a few ideas floating around in my head that I want to play around with.

The above card was made using SU CS, designer paper and ribbon. I used the new scallop edge punch and word window punch from SU, Nestibilities and a cuttlebug embossing folder. It's kind of hard to see but on the flower I watercolored with the glitter pen. The sentiment is from SU's small sayings stamp set.

To make this card I used SU CS, designer paper and ribbon, Nestibilities, and one of the new cuttlebug border folders. You can not see this in the picture but after I embossed the dot border, I dabbed versamark on the dots and heat embossed using Iredescent Ice to give the dots some sparkle. Can you see that I also used the heat gun to crinkle the ribbon? Instead of using floss or ribbons on the buttons I used a sequence in the middle.
One more day until Gina's release party - Woo Whoo! Don't forget to stop by her blog tomorrow to see what the design team has done with the sneak peak #5!
Thank you for stopping by!

Star Book

Happy Wednesday!

This post will be a bit longer because I am posting the Star Book I made for my friend I work with.
When I started this book I choose colors that seemed on the boyish side. I do not have any boys in my family or did not know of anyone pregnant with a boy. My friend Kelly, found out she was pregnant about the same time I started this book and a few weeks later she had testing done to find out the sex of the baby - a boy! How funny is that? LOL!
Anywho, I wanted to make this book with my own spin on it. I decided I would make it 6x6 and use chipboard to make it a bit more durable.
All the CS used it SU and the designer paper is DCWV, the Nana's kids pack. I colored everything with Prisma pencils, OMS and a blender stump. The stamp sets are ones I bought from Gina, Just so Hoppy, Just so Hippy, Hip Hop Accessories and Jumping for Joy.
Ink is Stazon or SU.

Throughout the whole book I added pockets behind each paper and used the McGill tap punch. I added some texture to the tabs with the Swiss Dots Cuddlebug folder.
It is hard to see but the balloons sparkle. I watercolored them with a glitter pen.

This is one of my favorite pages. The tree was made from ribbon and a McGill leaf punch. When I was done punching the leaves I have a bruise on my hand!

I wanted to have a circus tent in the book but I do not have a stamp or punch of one so I winged it and made my own. The Osterich is running over the Judikins Saw Dust.

This is my other favorite page. Designing this page I kept thinking of a polor bear and an igloo but you guessed it no pre-made igloo so this is my take on an igloo. The used a glue pen to add the lines to the igloo and make it look like snow hanging on it then used dazzling diamonds to give it lots of sparkle. I punched out little star and put yellow rhinestones in the center.

I used my cuttlebug for the wood plank and used a hand made template for the clouds then puffed them using Liquid Applique.

This was a fun page. Don't laugh at the sun - I created that on my own too.

This is the last page and a picture taken of the book open.

I know there is a lot more embellishments on the pages that I did not list because it would make this post much longer than it already is LOL!

Thank you for looking!

Strawberries - Yum Yum!

Hello!

Today I wanted to post another card I made using Gina's Summer Harvest set. I have been having alot of fun playing with this set and practicing using my Copic markers.

Card details: SU CS, Marcella K designer paper, Copic, Nestibilities, Cuttlebug, SU Small Sayings set and Chocolate Poly Twill.

I hope everyone had a chance to take a peek at Gina's pre-view today - Rupa did a fantastic job as always!

Tomorrow I am going to try and post a star book I made for a gift to give to a good friend of mine. I say try because I seem to be challenged when it comes to including multiple pictures in one post. LOL! Someday I will get the hang of this or will need to buy a 'Blogging for Dummies' book - LOL!

Have a great evening.

Summer Veggie

Happy Labor Day!

I wanted to share this card I made with Gina K's Summer Harvest stamp set. I am still using up all my scraps so I have been picking the card base color and then find coordinating scraps to match. I still have alot of scraps to use and hope to get more cards posted soon.
Card details: Stampin Up paper & ribbon, Copic markers, Sakerua glitter pen, cuttlebug and the brads I do not remember the brand.

Tomorrow my daughter starts 1st grade. She is so excited to be going back to school which is awesome to see. My older daughter was quite the opposite, she dreaded the start of the school year so having love school is so much easier!

I am visiting my Mom with my two girls and they are looking through older pictures and all the cards I have made for Mom. They found my very first two cards I made six years ago. It feels kind of like when you were younger and had your boyfriend over to your parents house and they bring out the embarrassing baby pictures. LOL!! In a way it was good to see how much I have grown in my card making ability.

Have a great rest of your day!
