Birthday Bulletin

Happy Friday!

Is everyone ready for the weekend? I sure am and it is suppose to be really nice weather. Maybe I can get some decent pictures of my project during the day!

I have had a piece of cork paper laying around forever and it caught my eye yesterday so I wanted to use it some how. It was my brother-in-laws birthday so I thought a bulletin board with a happy birthday note pinned to it and that is what I tried to do.
I really like how the squirrel from Whimsical Autumn goes so well with the acorns from So Grateful.
To make the card look more like a bulletin board I used silver cs as a frame for the cork paper and used screw brads in the corner. I found the cork paper at Archiver's in the clearance section, now I wish I would have picked up more than one sheet!

How do you like the little squirrel holding the celebrate note, which by the way is from SU That's so Nice. I used the spiral punch on the edge and then perforated next to the spiral edge to make it look kind of like a piece of notebook paper but without the lines.
The board needed thumbtacks but I did not like any of the brads I had - they did not look a thumbtack to me so I improvised and took stick pins from my sewing box and cut the tops off and glued them to the board, added the library clip to the top and the card was done.

Birthday celebration

Good morning!

I needed to make a birthday card for a friend who will be turning 40 this year. She is pregnant and is have a rough time with morning sickness so I did not want to make one with an over the hill theme.
I used the SU set Eastern Influence and and colored with my prisma pencils, OMS, and blending stump.
I really got into the layering with this card. I found it uses up the scraps a bit faster...hehehe!
The cs is Soft Sky, Groovy Guava and misc textured brown that I have had for long time. I inked around all the cs and dp with like colors of ink. The corners are from the SU Ticket Corner punch and another bigger ticket corner punch from EK Success.

The brown background is embossed with the cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder. I know it is a bit hard to see it.
The Nestibilities were used to make the frame and scalloped mat for the flower.
The Celebrate sentiment was stamped on paper and punched with the SU Round Tab punch. I also used the punch for the soft sky background.

Using scrap paper does influence color palette

Good morning!

What a dreary day it is in Madison WI today! It would be a good day to play hooky from work and stamp the day away!

How many of you are like me? I see all these beautiful cards made with some of the SU stamps or other company stamps and tell my self I really have to get that set and when I do get the set it sits on my shelf collecting dust.
This card was made with one of those set, Eastern Influences. The cs colors are Pixie Pink, Brocade Blue and Certain Celery.

I used my Prisma pencils, OMS, and blending stump for the coloring. I really love my Cuttlebug Embossing folders and Nestibilities. I ran the Leafy Branch folder through the Cuttlebug, sponged celery ink over the leaves and then rubbed Metallic Rub-on over the ink to give it a bit of shimmer. I did the say around the edges of all the cs.

I am proud of myself because I used all scrap paper to make this card. I still have quite a bit in my bin so last night I went through it all and tossed all the smaller piece. Don't tell Jessica because she would have been able to find a use for them! LOL!

I have a cute story to share, I was helping my daughter, who is in 1st grade, with homework last night and one of the things she has to do is learn the first commandment. We go into a conversation about Jesus and I mentioned Pastor Bill, the Pastor at our church, and Abbi asked who Pastor Bill was. I explained who he was to her. She thought for minute and said, "I thought he was Jesus".
