My plaid pumpkin hippo

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. I sure wish they wouldn't go by so fast! A good friend of mine came over today and we made a few cards together. Wait until you see these cards. They are made with some bright colors and busy dp. The card I am sharing today is one I started Thursday after work and was not able to finish it until today.
There are several challenges going at Stamp TV and you have a whole week to complete a project for the challenge.

This card today covers two of the challenges, the color and the kissing challenge. The color challenge was to use Alway Artichoke, Apricot Appeal and Pumpkin Pie. The other challenge was to use the kissing technique and Gina has an awesome tutorial episode on this technique. You can find it here on Stamp TV.

Let's got on to the card, shall we?
The stamp sets I used are Little Tees, Just so Hoppy, Hip Hop Accessories, Simple Stripes background and Cheese Cloth background. The dp is SU's Sweet Always and the cs is Whisper White, Apricot, Pumpkin, and Artichoke.

I think I used almost every size of the the Wavy Rectangles for this card. lol! The Hippo was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black and the simple stripes background stamp and pumpkin ind was used to create the plaids. I added a little flower button for his tail. The apricot rectangle was cut out to be a gatefold mini card. The only thing I am not fond of with gatefold cards is they do not stay shut so I added some hardware to keep it closed. This is the inside of the gate-fold. I wanted to use the kissing technique on the frog to so I used the solid tee from the Little Tees set and stamped apricot on the tee. I used Pumpkin to ink up the cheese cloth background stamp and stamped the tee on top to the cheese cloth and then on whisper white cs. I used the mementos tuxedo black to stamp the frogs on the tees and then cut them out. Since this is a birthday card for my nephew, I thought it would be fun to put birthday hats on the frogs. The background behind the frogs was sponged using challenge colors.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

He loved his card before but now that we know it opens and there are the frogs, he really loves it. He showed it to Bobby Jo. It was so cute.
