We go together...

Hi!

How is your weekend so far? It was a busy day for me today. My daughter had a birthday party and right after that we had a Christmas Party. At least it was warmer today. We made it above zero!

Melanie Muenchinger recently had a challenge that was to make a card with the sentiment the focal point. Boy did I fail that challenge - I didn't even submit my card! It was one of those that once you get started, you just keep adding to it.
I started out with the idea of making a simple Valentine's card. Well this is what I ended up with.
I used Melanie's Have a Cookie set for the card. I started out by stamping the milk glass and heart shaped cookie in no particular pattern on the Riding Hood Red cs with versamark. My original plan was to just add the sentiment cut out with the rectangle nestibilities popped up in the center of the card. The card look way to plain so I stamped the milk and cookies on white with a gray mementos dew drop, making sure to connect the milk glass to the heart cookie then cut that out. I tried to incorporate this into the card but had a hard time so decided to give it a bit of color using copic markers. The cookies are watercolored with the Sakura glitter pen and both the cookies and milk are covered with crystal lacquer. That looked much better and I liked the look of it running along the bottom of the card but when I added the sentiment, I had a big open space and that where the heart came in. It is cut with heart shaped nesties, sponges around the edges with carmel ink and riding hood red ribbon tied around the heart. I purposely left the ends of the ribbon longer to make a heart with the ribbon. A silver heart brad is holding the ends together.

I guess I need to practice on making cards with sentiments as a focal point so next time there is a similar challenge I can submit a card. Hehehe!

Have a great rest of your night and thanks for visiting!
