Here Comes the Stork

Good morning!
I can not believe it is the last day of the year 2008! What plans do you have to ring in the New year?
We will be staying home and ringing in the New Year with a steak dinner and a night of movie's. I will be lucky if I am still awake at 10:00 tonight. LOL!

Today's card was made for Gina's Off Kilter challenge.
A good friend of mine is having a baby on or before January 16th. She knows it is a boy so I thought I would make a card for her using the challenge which was to make sure that you have one piece of patterned paper or an alternate color of card stock on an angle.

I used the stork image from Gina's How Sweet it is stamp set. My first try to color the image did not look good - I really need to practice more coloring with my copics or get a few more colors that would have made my first try easier! LOL!
I pulled out my prisma pencils and OMS for the second try of coloring the stork and baby bundle. I used the square nesties to cut out the image and the ballet blue mat. I sponged bashful blue around the image before matting it on the scalloped square which I pieced a hole in each scallop.
The dp is from Brenda Walton Small Wonders Boy mat pad. Before the dp was matted on the real red, it was embossed with the cuttlebug spots and dots folder. The angled part is another dp from the same mat pad and again matted with real red.
I stamped the sentiment on pure luxury 80 lb. white cs and used the middle double ended spellbinder labels to cut it out and matted it on the largest spellbinder labels trio cut in the real red. I added light blue rhinestones to each end of the double ended label and each corner of the image.
I thought the card needed something else so I used real read to punch out photo corners using the fancy corner punch and embossed them with the cuttlebug swiss dots folder.

I honestly am not that fond of this card and can not tell you exactly why. What do you think? I would love to hear your feedback and any suggestions on what you would do differently with it.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a very happy but safe New Years Eve!
Sharri

See now, I LOVE your card!! I wouldn't change a thing - the colors just pop and so does your layout!
