I am so excited tonight to be a part of a blog hop with the GinaK Design Team. When Melanie asked me to join in the hop to feature the new stamp set she Illustrated for GinaK, I was beyond thrilled and completely honored. Tonight I will sharing 2 cards with you featuring her new set, School, Sports, Spirit. The first card I would like to share is a scene one. As a kid I used to ice skate with friends on the frozen creek behind our house. I used this memory as an inspirations for the card.
The skates were colored with copics and I added bit of glitter and shine to the blades with a silver gel pen and a glitter pen. I cut the skates out and attached them to the tag and the corner of the image with DMC thread. The sentiment is from another one of Melanie's sets called The Best Things in Life.
To create the scene, I started out by covering the top of the cs with a post-it note and brayered the water in with bashful blue, brocade blue and night of navy. Instead of brayering across the bottom of the card, I brayered along each side. Next I covered the water with a post-it note and brayered the sky with going grey, pretty in pink, almost amethyst and a touch of brocade blue. The area of grass was added next using handsome hunter and black. I completely covered the water with crystal lacquer and sprinkled snow glitter along the edges while the lacquer was still wet.
This picture show the water and it's shine better. I also added falling snow using my quickie glue pen and the snow glitter.
For this next card I wanted to use the jacket and give it a leather look. I am not sure I achieved the leather look but it sure is different and I think I like it! lol!
I took a piece of wax paper and squirted brown liquid applique on it, grabbed my brayer and rolled it through the liquid applique until the roller was completely covered. Next I rolled the brayer over a piece of cs and used my heat tool to puff it a bit. I think I should have had a thinner layer of the liquid applique on the cs and it would have turned out more like leather. Something I will definitely remember next time I use this technique. I stamped the jacket using stone gray stazon and cut it out.
The dp is from Basic Grey's Ambrosia pack and the cs is black onyx.
